Man, 55, critically injured after car hits him on James Street in Syracuse

Syracuse, N.Y. — A 55-year-old man was critically injured this weekend when a car hit him in Syracuse, police said.
Around 4:05 p.m. Saturday, Syracuse police responded to the 900 block of James Street for a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle, said Sgt. Thomas Blake, a Syracuse Police Department spokesperson.
When officers arrived, they found a man unconscious lying in the road, Blake said. The man had severe cuts to his chest and the back of his head, he said.
Blake said the man was taken to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition. The man is now in stable condition as of Monday, he said.
The driver stayed on scene and is known to police, Blake said.
